Adelaide singer, songwriter and bassist extraordinaire Greg Vincent passed away on February 7, 2021, leaving behind a legacy of some forty years of songs and recordings. ‘Songs For Florence’ traces a history of Greg’s songwriting dating back from the early 1980s to the present, including a huge array of demos, early recordings and unreleased album tracks compiled from analog and digital recordings. The collection presents not only an amazing talent but a diverse variety of material ranging from simple acoustic ballads to experimental rock, atmospheric instrumentals and quirky pop songs that display Greg’s irreverent sense of humour.

The album is available as either a limited-edition CD for $25 or download for $20. All proceeds from sales of the album go directly toward a benevolent fund to provide for the education of Greg’s daughter Florence.

Greg Vincent and Peter Long first performed together in Adelaide band Primitive Painters in the mid-1980s and later collaborated in the indie outfit Puppethead in Adelaide and Sydney. As a predominantly guitar-based duo, Ashram Poets was the duo's foray into electro-pop and ultimately their final project, with Greg passing away in 2021.
